The Uganda Local Governments Association has continued to grow over the years. Since it was established in 1994, we have continued to advocate and lobby for local governments. We have registered great success and achievements in the last fifteen years.

The key issues for the local governments have been the gratuity for the local government political leaders, Graduated Tax compensation, recentralization of local government staff, inadequate unconditional grant, and councilor's emoluments among others. We are proud to note that while most of these are still pressing issues for our members, I feel that they reached the highest level of authority in this country.

I welcome you to the Uganda Local Governments Association (ULGA). The Association is moving to greater heights in supporting local governments in Uganda. To achieve our vision which is Unity and Efficiency of Local Governments, we now have a permanent home, The ULGA House. The ULGA House located in Najjanankumbi, Entebbe Road, is now the headquarters for local governments in Uganda.

The website provides information about ULGA and all those in the Decentralization fraternity in the country and worldwide. I would therefore like to urge you to always visit the website whenever you are in need of information about ULGA. I also encourage you to post your views in our discussion forum.
